FAQ
What Is Chlorination Treatment?
- Latex garment chlorination is a processing service provided by LatexLook. Through treatment with a chlorination solution and mild acids, the surface of the latex garment becomes smoother and far less sticky, allowing you to put on your latex clothing easily without the need for talcum powder or lubricants.
What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Chlorination Treatment?
Chlorination offers many benefits, but it also comes with certain drawbacks.
Advantages
- A smoother surface that makes dressing and undressing much easier, with a matte finish
- No sticking, even without talcum powder; garments can be stacked, stored together, or layered
- A silicone-like surface texture with a more refined, delicate feel
- Increased softness and improved wearing comfort
Disadvantages
- The natural scent of latex will permanently disappear and be replaced by a mild “industrial” odor from the chlorination process, although this smell will gradually fade over time
- Reduced elasticity, resulting in a slightly different wearing sensation
- Possible color changes, especially with light-colored latex; black latex garments may appear slightly grey after treatment
- If the garment includes other materials, such as plastic zippers, these components may also discolor during the chlorination process
How Should Chlorinated Latex Garments Be Cared For?
- Chlorinated latex garments still require proper care. Avoid direct sunlight and UV exposure during storage, and keep them away from oils (except silicone oil), high temperatures, and chemical substances. We also recommend regularly conditioning your latex garments with our care oil to maintain their condition and longevity.
Can I Perform Chlorination Treatment Myself?
- There are many chlorination tutorials available online, However, we do not recommend attempting chlorination on your own. The process involves highly irritating chemical substances, and improper handling can result in far more serious consequences than a failed treatment.
- During chlorination, strong irritating fumes may cause coughing, breathing difficulties, dizziness, and other symptoms, while splashes of chlorination solution can burn the skin or eyes. In addition, if neutralization and rinsing are not performed thoroughly after treatment, wearing the garment may directly irritate the skin, leading to redness, itching, or allergic reactions, with even greater sensitivity in intimate areas. Improperly treated latex garments may also age prematurely, become stiff, rough, or lose their original feel. LatexLook does not provide warranty coverage for latex garments that have been chlorinated through self-performed treatments.
